Certificate Fiasco: Oshiomhole Lacks Moral Ground To Talk -By Elvis Otsemehuno Ogah

Since August 27th, 1991 when Edo state was created, we’ve had 5 Executive Governors. All the governors, except Oshiomhole, were profusely educated, heavily credentialed, and extensively lettered.

The pioneer Governor, John Odgie Oyegun studied Economics at the University of Ibadan where he graduated with a 2.1. His successor, Lucky Igbenedion, holds a B.Sc in Marketing (1982) from the University of Wyoming, USA and an MBA (1983) from Jackson State University, Mississippi, in the United States.

Lucky was succeeded by one of Africa’s finest & most brilliant legal luminary – Oserheimen Osunbor. Osunbor finished from University of Nigeria in 1975 where he graduated with an LL.B First Class Honours degree. He attended the Nigerian Law School, Victoria Island, 1975–1976, emerged the best over-all student and was awarded the Dr. Elias prize. He proceeded to the Prestigious University of Warwick, England in September 1977 and completed his Ph.D in 1981.

The incumbent Governor, Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki, schooled at the University of Ibadan where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Classics. He later left Nigeria for the United States to attend Columbia University and Pace University in New York, where he was awarded an MBA in Finance and International Business.

For the records, Oshiomole’s highest academic accomplishment is a mere secondary school certificate; a certificate that is still a subject of perjury and protracted litigation. He only managed to obtain, in his old age, an inconsequential certificate that doesn’t measure up to Auchi Poly ND.

Academically, Oshiomhole is an embryo before the other 4 intellectual colossus. It therefore should worry sane minds, that same Oshiomhole is the one who’s out to ridicule the academic attainment of a man like Godwin. It is perplexing as it is baffling, that, an intellectual lilliput like Oshiomhole would condescend to the level of empowering his lackeys in the state to disparage the credentials of a sitting Governor on social media.

Thankfully, University of Ibadan has come out to clear the air. They’ve confirmed Obaseki is a worthy alumnus. So shame to those crumb seeking cretins, urchins, and dimwits emboldened by Oshiomhole to carryout such a distateful smear campaign.
