Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is poised to lead Galatasaray’s frontline as they travel to Monaco for today’s UEFA Champions League (UCL) clash.

Both teams are mid-table in the UCL league phase and will be meeting for the seventh time in the competition.

Monaco enter the tie in inconsistent form — despite defeating PSG recently, they have endured a difficult five-match stretch that has hurt their progress in both Ligue 1 and the Champions League. With six points from five matches, they are fighting to remain within the top 24. Optimists, however, point to their four-match unbeaten run in Europe.

Their 1–0 win over Bodø/Glimt on matchday four is Monaco’s only victory in their last eight Champions League games. Their home record is also shaky, with just three wins in their previous 14 main-draw UCL fixtures at Stade Louis II.

Galatasaray see an opportunity but are battling their own inconsistency. Okan Buruk’s men have lost two of their last five matches in all competitions, including a UCL defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise. They did, however, secure a confidence-boosting 3–2 domestic win over the weekend courtesy of a dramatic 93rd-minute goal.

The Turkish giants aim to claim back-to-back away wins in the Champions League for only the second time in their history. But statistics suggest a tough challenge: among teams with at least 50 away UCL games, only Olympiacos have a lower win rate (11%) than Galatasaray’s 13%.
