China Reaffirms Support for Nigeria’s Counter-Terrorism Efforts — Ambassador Yu

The Chinese Embassy in Nigeria has reiterated Beijing’s commitment to supporting Nigeria in its fight against terrorism.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, made the pledge during a meeting with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, where both sides restated their resolve to deepen cooperation in trade, investment, manufacturing, and broader strategic relations.

Ambassador Yu said the China–Nigeria comprehensive strategic partnership has entered a “fast track,” strengthened by consistent mutual understanding on issues affecting both nations’ core interests.

He also highlighted China’s readiness to implement zero-tariff access for Nigerian exports and to begin preparations for two major diplomatic events — the 55th anniversary of China-Nigeria relations and the 2026 China-Africa Year of Cultural Exchanges.

“China and Nigeria have always understood and supported each other on issues concerning each other’s core interests. China also supports Nigeria’s efforts to combat terrorism,” Yu said.

He added that these initiatives would help consolidate strategic trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, and deliver greater development opportunities for citizens of both countries.

Minister Tuggar expressed Nigeria’s appreciation for China’s continued support and reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to the one-China principle, pledging to deepen bilateral ties even further.
