Cholera outbreak: Nigeria records 54 deaths, 1,579 cases in 32 states – NCDC
The agency said on Monday that as of June 24, 2024, there had been 3,528 suspected cases of cholera and 53 deaths in 31 states and 107 LGAs in Nigeria, with a 3.5 percent case fatality rate.

The number of cholera deaths and its spread throughout 32 states and 115 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the Federation have increased, according to the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, or NCDC.
During a Wednesday update, Dr. Muntari Hassan, the National Incident Manager for the Center and Deputy Director of Surveillance at the NCDC, stated that 1,579 suspected cases and 54 confirmed deaths have been reported since the year’s commencement.
The agency said on Monday that as of June 24, 2024, there had been 3,528 suspected cases of cholera and 53 deaths in 31 states and 107 LGAs in Nigeria, with a 3.5 percent case fatality rate.
Nigeria has been placed on high risk for increased cholera transmission and impact due to the rainy season.
