In his desire to put smiles on the faces of his constituents in the Yuletide period, Moro on Sunday distributed about 5,500 bags of rice, several goats, cows and other food items to them for the celebration
A report written by Onjefu Ajeibi and posted across different social media platforms by the senator’s media adviser indicated that “Over 5,500 bags of rice, several goats, cows and many other gift items were distributed to constituents across party lines. The breakdown of the distribution showed each of the 102 council wards in the senatorial district getting 51 bags of rice, amounting to 5,202 bags, while each PDP EXCO of the nine LGAs got 19 bags, amounting to 171 bags.
“In addition to the rice, each of five selected stakeholders from each of the nine LGAs; 3 from PDP and 2 from APC, got a goat for the Christmas celebration with their families and loved ones, amounting to 45 goats.
“The distribution of food items was not without the widows in the senatorial district getting their own share. Mrs Mary Ikpe received several bags of rice on behalf of the widows.
“The beneficiaries of the senator’s gesture profusely thanked him for making their celebration a lot colourful and merrier. They pledged their unalloyed support for him and prayed God for His abundant blessings and strength upon him.”
While addressing the crowd that gathered at his Otukpo residence, Senator Moro, according to the report, said: “The gesture was his modest contribution to a happy Christmas celebration by the good people of Benue South Senatorial District, considering the economic hardship being faced by many people today, and a way of giving back to his people who have always stood by him through thick and thin. He said his wish was to reach out to every of his constituents but lamented paucity of funds as his inability to do so. He pleaded with his people to accept his gifts, promising that it would continue to get better.
“This invaluable support to his people at this critical economic time will, no doubt, boost the celebration of the yuletide as individuals, groups and different organizations got their fair share from this humongous gesture.”
