Authorities in the town of Boto have launched a formal investigation following reports that a copy of the Holy Quran was allegedly thrown into a public toilet facility. The incident has sparked anger and concern among residents, religious leaders, and rights groups.

According to sources, SHEHU USMAN and Abdullahi SHEHU, in their separate report, stated that the incident occurred in the early hours of 07/05/2025, when cleaning staff at a community toilet in the one house and the central district discovered the holy book submerged in a toilet bowl. Early witness accounts suggest the act may have been intentional. While confirmed reports claim the suspects  are Muslims, police verified the identity and arrested the suspects for investigation.

“We condemn any act of desecration against religious texts, regardless of who is responsible. Such actions do not reflect the teachings of any faith and only fuel division,” says Mal. Nuhu Ismaila Umar, a senior religious leader in Boto. He urged the public to remain calm and allow the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation.
