Conflict perspective and strike (Non-violent change approach) -By Usman Babangida

The political class cum bourgeoisie do not care about the educational sector itself. Just pause and imagine if their children are studying in same public universities we are studying! The strike will not act lackadaisically and they wouldn’t continue looking their childrens at home without attending the demands of their teachers.

Having subscribed and staunched to radical marxist ideologies makes me to explicit the concept of the aforementioned theme gently and precisely, this is because it’s against the true diction of our perspective to subjugate or victimize any other.

The most relevant and suitable approach to dissect the issue of non violent change must be that of Karlmarx’s theory, renowned as conflict perspective, this is because it’s a theory that deals Justice to the both classes that engaged in strives of attaining the means of survival, though one is subjugated and victimized by the giant class cum bourgeoisie. I know, most of you that agitating and subscribing to crook school of thought called FUNCTIONALISM would start throw a stone to me and that would never make me to be silent.

When we look at the factors of non violent change approach, vis-a-vis: protest, demonstration, boycott and strike. All the aforesaid factors are kinds of non violent change approach but,we will take only of them to talk and analyzing base on the CONFLICT PERSPECTIVE.

We always know that strike is the only sounds way that most of our incompetents leaders are afraid for, all the changes we have encountered in this world is the product of either protest or demonstration and, of course, strike.

Hence in our perspective, the strike or non violent change approach is a good thing, this is because the ASUU’s struggle has gave birth to many lucrative outcomes to most of our universities, the most renowned ASUU’s achievement from the inception of professor Attahiru jega as the ASUU chairman to date was the establishment of Tetfund agency across to the whole institutions. That’s why strike is always the only the means.

The FG is always against the will of ASUU, and that makes ASUU to start cogitating on how to confront them, that’s why the best way to reach their message to FG is only through STRIKE.

Industrial conflict is inevitable, and ASUU has the autonomy to fight for themselves ,and the students’ unions should fight for themselves too, since most of them aren’t appreciating the exertions of ASUU’s struggle.

The political class cum bourgeoisie do not care about the educational sector itself. Just pause and imagine if their children are studying in same public universities we are studying! The strike will not act lackadaisically and they wouldn’t continue looking their childrens at home without attending the demands of their teachers.

And it’s the same issues that those political class has been trying to deprived of right to a good educational environment for the all citizens especially masses, this is because, sounded education is a harsh threat to those looters who are parading themselves as our leaders today for only through education we will know ourselves, how to abstain from anything that will tarnish our images, and also only through education we could unite irrespective of our religious beliefs and ethnic affiliations to repudiate their strategies and bad policies against us. Similarly, through education we could only know how to organize a protest and revolution against their bad policies towards us.

In my own opinion on ASUU strikes, the strike is a good thing and it should be continued untill this government address and meet the demands of our lecturers. Since this has been the only means, the approach of STRIKE will make government to start looking for a way to meet their demands (ASUU), ASUU haven’t any approach to call the attention of our leaders in a simple way than through STRIKE…

Lack of good Working environment, incentives and motivation to their works, is what makes ASUU to embark on a Strike always.

On my view, the solution to this incessant strike is just as simple as sipping coffee, the federal government should invest and allocated a huge resources to the educational sector on any annually budgets, hugely budget would be great to get the system to be revived again.

Though the government is always saying there’s no money when it comes to the project where the common man and masses will benefit from,
but when it comes to their own (FG) gain, which will have impact on them and their children affairs nothing like saying such absurd statement “No money or any other plead” they will just executed.

To wrap up, if they can’t do so; they should allow any university to establish an IGR (internal generated revenue) and the universities would compile a huge money from us, students, and it will likely be helpful to the sustainability of our universities.
Anything else, apart from that, is, according to my thought, is just wasting time of the both classes.
