Recently, I shared my top ten favorite books on Facebook.

The Biology of Belief by a molecular biologist, Bruce Lipton(PhD.) featured at number four.

If you scroll up my timeline, you will see that post.

This book took me down the memory lane to the days when I was studying for my Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.

The contents were very much around the things I regularly discussed with my course mates like Ope Ariyo and Dami Omogbemi at the time.

For most people, their first notion of belief was formed in the context of religion.

“Thine faith hath made thee whole!”

You can substitute an equivalent saying in any religion or culture.

Then comes motivational writings like “Success through Positive Mental Attitude (PMA)” by Napoleon Hill, which I shared at number three, amongst my top ten favorite books.

The Biology of Belief is a radical departure from all of that, because it is scientific.

It straddles Molecular Biology and Quantum physics.

It describes scientific experiments that shows how a thing such as Corona Virus is affected by energy fields, including the thoughts of you and I.

Various biological processes ranging from mutation to gametogenesis are heavily influenced by environmental factors that includes invisible energy fields.

It is not just about exposure to X-rays as you may already know, but everything from radio waves to sound waves to human thought waves – paves the way to altering biological processes.

Scientific research in these areas are rapidly evolving and the conclusions emerging but unfortunately, science textbooks don’t catch up so fast.

However, there is scientific proof that our thoughts are powerful on many levels.

This is why placebo effects exist.

This in fact is why prayers help too, including prayers of intercession, regardless of which religion or irreligion.

If you are very familiar with the history of various scientific inventions, you’d recognize the role of positive mental attitude, even when it comes to discovering vaccines and cures for ravaging diseases.

People fall sick regularly in a toxic relationship, because of the prevalent thought environment which weakens their immunity.

In a Corona Virus era, you sure don’t want to weaken your immunity via panic induced negative thinking.

Your positive or negative thoughts may make the difference between life and death for you and for others.

How we think about this virus and about it’s existential threat to our humanity is a factor in it’s mutation.

It can determine if the virus mutates into a milder form and become like common cold or it mutates into an even deadlier strain.

The socio-economic and neurological effects of panic can be deadlier than the virus. Besides, panic can literally make the virus stronger.

Therefore, in addition to increased sanitation, improved dietary considerations and other necessary precautions such as social distancing, we need a positive mental attitude.

This is not to say that faith or PMA is enough, it’s just to say that it can help too.

Clearly, we need to remain calm, confident and trusting that everything else we are doing about this, will work out fine. That in the end, we shall overcome.

You may consider using this Corona holiday to read the Biology of Belief, any other book or learn a skill.

The vital lessons will also be a useful guide for you, when this is over.
