Defecting Zamfara PDP Chairman Sabotaged Party Before Joining APC – Kaura-Namoda LG Boss
Kaura-Namoda LG Chairman Munnir Haidara alleges ex-PDP chairman Sadiq Chiroma sabotaged the party and leaked strategies before defecting to the APC.
The Chairman of Kaura-Namoda Local Government Area in Zamfara State, Alhaji Munnir Haidara, has accused the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chairman in the area, Sadiq Chiroma, of undermining the party long before his recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued after Chiroma officially joined the APC on Sunday, Haidara alleged that the ex-PDP chairman had been involved in what he described as “anti-party activities” even before the conclusion of the last state assembly bye-election.
He claimed Chiroma was often seen holding discreet meetings with top APC figures in the state during and after the bye-election—behaviour he said violated PDP guidelines and heightened internal concerns about his loyalty.
According to Haidara, Chiroma also allegedly divulged sensitive party strategies ahead of the bye-election and acted in ways that openly weakened the PDP’s chances at the polls.
He further linked the defection of the PDP’s former state assembly candidate, Mohammed Lawal Kurya Madaro, to Chiroma’s alleged influence, insisting that party members were already aware of the former chairman’s activities.
Haidara reaffirmed the PDP’s support in Kaura-Namoda for Governor Dauda Lawal, praising what he called the governor’s “people-oriented projects” in the area. He urged residents to continue backing efforts aimed at strengthening development across the local government.
While wishing Chiroma well in his political journey, the council chairman added that the former party leader would ultimately “reap what he sowed” after switching to the APC.
