Did Governor Soludo Goof? -By Onyejaka Alex Arinze

Gov. Soludo might have his reservations about the investment. He might not have bought into the idea like former governor Obiano had stated earlier, but he would have been more tactful in his statement, especially now that opponents of Obi are looking for what to nail him with. The usage of euphemism would have more apt in the circumstance.

Peter Obi and Soludo

Anambra state governor, Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s latest interview on Channel has set the social media abuzz. The interview which was hosted by the prolific media personality, Mr. Seun Akinbaloye, was to get the governor talk on the budget he recently presented to the state lawmakers for deliberation. At the course of the interview, Mr. Seun wanted to know the governor’s view on the alleged state investments claims of his predecessor, the Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, in Anambra state. At this point the governor tried to play smart. He told his host he was not there to talk about any of his predecessors. But smarter Seun wouldn’t have it. He pushed harder by rephrasing his question and asked that he only needed the governor’s perspective on the investment issue. Characteristics of Charles, blunt, bold and no-hold-barred, said that the so-called investment is worthless.

Did Soludo goof?

Was it his intention to ridicule, Labour Party presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi and reduce his credibility? I think governor Charles Soludo media aids have to quickly clarify this to avoid unnecessary barrages this might cause his government. Obi’s presidential candidature has been touted not have received the needed supports and backing from prominent South-East politicians and much more from his state where he served meritorious as governor for eight years. Obi’s campaign has been leveraging on stella performance and stewardship in Anambra state. His prudential management of the state resources through savings and investments have won him a lot of admirers and earned him credibility. Gov. Soludo might have his reservations about the investment. He might not have bought into the idea like former governor Obiano had stated earlier, but he would have been more tactful in his statement, especially now that opponents of Obi are looking for what to nail him with. The usage of euphemism would have more apt in the circumstance.
