U.S. prison authorities have confirmed that Sean “Diddy” Combs will be released on May 8, 2028, according to an online Federal Bureau of Prisons record published on Monday. The hip-hop mogul is currently serving a sentence of just over four years for prostitution-related offenses.

Earlier this month, District Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced the 55-year-old music executive to 50 months in prison and imposed a $500,000 fine, despite prosecutors pushing for an 11-year term.

Combs’ defense team has appealed both his conviction and sentence, a move that could potentially alter his expected release date. The date listed by federal authorities factors in the time he has already spent in detention at a Brooklyn correctional facility.

In July, a jury acquitted Combs of the most serious charges — sex trafficking and racketeering — but found him guilty on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution.

Judge Subramanian said he was obligated to impose a punishment that reflected the seriousness of the crimes, which he said had “irreparably harmed two women.” However, the judge noted that the 50-month sentence was still lower than the 70 to 87 months recommended by probation officers.

“You are going to get through this,” Subramanian told Combs and his family, encouraging him to use the experience as a turning point.

Before sentencing, Combs tearfully apologized to his victims and relatives, calling his behavior “disgusting, shameful, and sick.”

“I am truly sorry for my actions,” Combs told the court. “I take full responsibility and will spend the rest of my life making amends.”

The judge, acknowledging the remorse, said he hoped Combs would “make the most of your second chance.”
