Diezani Alison-Madueke Denies Viral Social Media Claims, Demands Fact-Checking
Ex-Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke dismisses “false and malicious” social media posts, urges the public to verify facts, and vows to clear her name through legal channels.
Former Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, has dismissed recent claims circulating on social media about her, describing them as “false, malicious, and a calculated attempt to smear her name.”
In a statement issued on Thursday by her family, legal team, and the Bayelsa Youth Association, the former minister clarified that she did not make the remarks attributed to her and has no financial dealings with the individuals mentioned in the online posts.
“This is not the first time that false narratives have been planted in the media to distort facts and damage her reputation,” the statement read. It further emphasized that Mrs. Alison-Madueke remains committed to defending her name through proper legal channels.
The group urged the media and members of the public to verify information before sharing it, while also calling on authorities to investigate those behind what they described as a “campaign of falsehood.”
Reaffirming her stance, Mrs. Alison-Madueke stressed her preference for resolving issues through due process rather than the “court of public opinion.”
