Driver Arraigned in Ibadan for Allegedly Threatening Ex-Lawmaker Adedapo Lam-Adesina
A 41-year-old driver, Nurudeen Ogunbona, was arraigned in Ibadan for allegedly threatening the life of former APC lawmaker Adedapo Lam-Adesina through texts and voice notes. He pleaded not guilty as court granted ₦250,000 bail.
A 41-year-old driver, Nurudeen Ogunbona, was on Tuesday arraigned before an Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly threatening the life of his employer, former lawmaker Adedapo Lam-Adesina.
Ogunbona, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing two counts of threat to life and conduct likely to cause a breach of peace. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The police prosecutor, Cpl. Akeem Akinloye, told the court that the defendant, in July, unlawfully threatened Lam-Adesina by sending him text messages and voice notes, warning that he would “deal with him.”
Akinloye said the incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at Lam-Adesina’s residence in Alalubosa G.R.A, Ibadan.
Lam-Adesina, a former member of the House of Representatives, represented Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC) between 2015 and 2019.
The prosecutor stated that the offences contravened Sections 86 and 249(D) of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Presiding Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted the defendant bail in the sum of ₦250,000 with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must be a blood relative.
The case was adjourned until December 8 for hearing.
