DSS Publishes Names of 115 Dismissed Officers, Warns Public Against Impostors
The DSS has dismissed 115 personnel for misconduct, published their names online, and warned Nigerians to beware of impostors posing as operatives amid ongoing internal reforms.
The Department of State Services (DSS) has announced the dismissal of 115 personnel over various cases of indiscipline and misconduct, releasing their names to the public to prevent fraud and impersonation.
The agency made this known in a statement posted on its official website on Tuesday, warning Nigerians to be cautious when dealing with anyone claiming to be a DSS operative.
“As part of the ongoing reforms in the Department of State Services (DSS), the public is hereby informed that a total of 115 personnel have been dismissed over a period,” the statement read.
According to the DSS, despite being dismissed, some of the affected individuals continue to parade themselves as serving officers, defrauding unsuspecting members of the public and misrepresenting the Service.
“In addition to earlier disclaimers on the duo of Barry Donald and Victor Onyedikachi Godwin, the Service finds it necessary to warn citizens of the fraudulent activities of some of these persons still posing as DSS personnel,” the statement added.
The security agency appealed to citizens, government institutions, private bodies, and community leaders to always verify the identity of anyone claiming to be a DSS operative before engaging them in any official capacity.
“Members of the public are therefore advised to desist from any official dealings with these individuals who have been dismissed by the Service,” the DSS cautioned.
To promote transparency, the Service has published the full list of dismissed personnel on its website, allowing Nigerians to confirm their identities when necessary.
The move, according to the DSS, is part of its broader reform and accountability drive, aimed at restoring integrity, discipline, and professionalism within the agency while protecting citizens from impostors exploiting its name.
The Service reaffirmed its commitment to ethical conduct and urged the public to report any suspicious individual claiming DSS affiliation through official communication channels.
