Edo 2024: Owan, The Unsung -By Joe Elabor
As we approach another gubernatorial election in the State, it is only fair and equitable for the other ethnic groups to consider Owan this time for the position of Governor.

Owan as one of the major ethnic groups in Edo State, occupies two Local Governments in the State. It has descendants in other Local Governments and States, like the Enwan people of Akoko Edo Local Government, Ijagba people of Ondo State, Igede people of Benue State, etc.
Owan boast of having some of the most highly intellectual persons from Edo State and blessed with uncultivated Agricultural and Natural Resources.
Despite all of the above stated, Owan is about the most underdeveloped and most marginalized constituency in Edo State.
It is no news that other major ethnic groups in Edo State, to wit: the Benins; the Esans; and Etsakos have all produced Governors respectively in time passed and in all of these eras, the Owans have assiduously supported those other ethnic groups.
Among the ethnic groups, Owan remains the only ethnic group yet to produce a Governor.
As we approach another gubernatorial election in the State, it is only fair and equitable for the other ethnic groups to consider Owan this time for the position of Governor.
As shown above, Owan is not disadvantaged, neither is it inferior nor subordinate to any other ethnic group.
We believe the time is ripe for Edo to have a Governor from Owan, just as Benin, Esan, and Etsako have had their time and terms.
We have decided to blow our trumpet, join us.
