Edo Government Set to Immortalise Late Ex-IGP Solomon Arase
Edo Governor Monday Okpebholo has announced plans to immortalise late former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, who died at 69. He hailed Arase as one of Edo’s finest officers and promised full support for his family.
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced plans to immortalise the late former Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, who hailed from the state.
Okpebholo made this known on Friday when he received Arase’s remains at the Benin Airport. The former police chief passed away on August 31 at the age of 69 after a brief illness in an Abuja hospital.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Gani Audu, the governor described Arase as “one of the finest police officers and lawyers we have in Edo State,” adding that his death came at a time when both the Nigeria Police Force and the nation needed his expertise.
“As a State Government, we will work with the family to see how we can immortalise him. He was a great son of Edo State,” Okpebholo said. “It is very painful to the government and people of Edo State, but we are consoled with the good life he lived.”
He praised Arase as a team player and problem-solver, noting: “It is painful that we lost somebody who always listened to every complaint and tried as much as possible to solve them.”
The governor prayed for God to grant the family strength to bear the loss and assured that the state government would support them during this period.
