EFCC Nabs 66 Suspected Internet Fraudsters in Lagos, Ogun Raids

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale disclosed that 55 suspects were apprehended Wednesday at K Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro (Ogun State), while 11 others were arrested Thursday at Tulip Haven in Chevron, Lekki (Lagos State).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested 66 alleged internet fraudsters in coordinated operations across Ogun and Lagos states, the anti-graft agency announced Friday.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale disclosed that 55 suspects were apprehended Wednesday at K Hotel in Itori, Ewekoro (Ogun State), while 11 others were arrested Thursday at Tulip Haven in Chevron, Lekki (Lagos State).

“The arrests followed credible and actionable intelligence about their suspected fraudulent internet activities,” Oyewale stated in Abuja.

Recovered items from the Ogun operation included:

  • 6 luxury vehicles

  • 2 locally-made pistols

  • 1 motorcycle

  • Multiple mobile phones and laptops

  • 89 unclaimed phones

  • Various incriminating documents

The Lagos raid yielded:

  • 1 Range Rover

  • 3 Mercedes-Benz

  • 2 Lexus

  • 1 Toyota vehicles

  • 15 iPhones

  • 2 Android phones

  • 1 Nokia torch phone

  • 1 MacBook

“All suspects have provided useful information and will be charged to court soon,” Oyewale confirmed.

The operations mark the EFCC’s continued crackdown on cybercrime hotspots in Southwest Nigeria. (NAN)
