Ekiti Farmer Arrested After Wife Dies from Severe Beating Over Lateness to Farm

A woman, Modupe Alasin, has tragically died after she was severely beaten by her husband in Efon Alaaye, Ekiti State, for reportedly arriving late to their farm.

An eyewitness to the event, who pleaded anonymity, stated that the assault was relentless. “The woman screamed and begged for mercy as the husband flogged her repeatedly,” the witness said.

Following the beating, the man allegedly ordered his weakened wife to fetch water from a nearby stream. She collapsed and died beside the stream, presumably due to the injuries and exhaustion sustained from the attack.

The Ekiti State Police Command has confirmed the incident and the arrest of the husband. The Police Public Relations Officer, SP Sunday Abutu, stated, “The husband has been arrested for further investigation.”
