Ekiti State Tops Fiscal Transparency Ranking with 100% Score in Q2 2025 – BudgIT

Ekiti State has once again emerged as Nigeria’s most fiscally transparent state, achieving a perfect 100% score across all fiscal transparency indicators.

The recognition came in the Q2 2025 States Fiscal Transparency League (SFTL) report released by BudgIT, which assessed states based on criteria such as budget approval, quarterly BIR, 2023 audited financial statements, Accountant-General’s Reports, e-procurement portals, and accessibility of state website data.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s Special Adviser on Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, said the consistency in topping fiscal transparency rankings underscored the administration’s commitment to accountability, openness, and responsible governance.

He recalled that Ekiti also recorded a 100% score in Q1 2025 and ranked first in both Q2 and Q3 of 2024, making it the only state to sustain such performance under Governor Oyebanji’s leadership.

According to him, the governor’s dedication to fiscal discipline and open governance has fostered development and strengthened citizens’ trust in government.

Olatunbosun said:

“The focus is to involve individuals, groups, and stakeholders, actively seeking feedback, addressing concerns, and making decisions that reflect stakeholders’ interests.
We will continue to keep citizens informed, empowered, and engaged. Trust in government starts with transparency, and this government will never lose sight of that.”

He added that the administration is ensuring inclusive governance by creating systems that are transparent, impartial, and accountable, while giving space for diverse voices, including marginalized groups, to shape policies for more equitable and sustainable outcomes.
