England reach Euro 2024 semi-finals after beating Switzerland on penalties

After a 1-1 draw in the round of eight, England defeated Switzerland 5-3 on penalties on Saturday to go to the Euro 2024 semi-finals.

The game-winning penalty kick was scored by Trent Alexander-Arnold, which moved England into a last-four match on Wednesday in Dortmund against either the Netherlands or Turkey.

With ten minutes left, Bukayo Saka scored a breathtaking equalizer that sent the game into extra time. The forward for Arsenal sent the shot off the inside of the post.

England had looked to be heading out of the tournament five minutes before when Breel Embolo forced in Switzerland’s opener.

Neither team scored in the following 30 minutes, and after Jordan Pickford saved Manuel Akanji’s opening spot-kick for the Swiss, England confidently scored all of theirs to secure passage to the semis.
