In a statement released to newsmen after visiting the headquarters of the Enugu State Independent Electoral Commission (ENSIEC) to find out if the state chapter of the party has submitted list of candidates for the council election; the party stalwart frowned at how leadership crisis in the state has degenerated to the level of preventing the party from fielding candidates for the forthcoming council election in the state.

Ahead of the February 23rd Local Government Election in Enugu State, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Comrade Edwin Uhara has bemoaned the lingering leadership crisis in the state chapter of the party.

Noting that “Where the state electoral body is yet to receive list of candidates from the party about 11 days to the council election because of leadership crisis; whereas other parties have started their campaigns, I wonder how APC is going to participate in the election without enough preparations because success is a process and not an event.”

Therefore, I call on the national leadership of the party to intervene by resolving the leadership crisis in Enugu State Chapter, so that the party can reposition itself for victory in the 2023 Presidential Election in the state.

The member of the Presidential Campaign Council in 2019 election further noted that a situation where the Presidential Candidate of the party only got 54,423 votes while the PDP candidate got 355,553 votes in 2019 Presidential Election in the state because of leadership crisis would no longer be condoned as the stakes would be high by 2023.

The party stalwart commended President Muhammadu Buhari and his team for the numerous developmental projects going on in the Southeast region; especially the ongoing rehabilitation of the dilapidated Ugwu-Onyeama portion of the Enugu-Onitsha Expressway.
