Excitement Sparks as UDUS Join LASU, UI, UNICAL in NUGA Group B Clash -By Issa Hamed Alhaji
According to the official grouping released by the organising committee (NUGA), Group B comprises Lagos State University (LASU), University of Calabar (UNICAL), University of Ibadan (UI), and Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS).
It’s not a news that the Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) has commenced the highly anticipated 2025 NUGA Games, though was initially scheduled for April 26th to May 10th, 2025, but rescheduled to November 5th till 16th, 2025.
In line with this, NUGA release grouping of football teams, where the most peaceful university in Nigeria, “Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto” (UDUS), has been drawn into group B, a highly competitive group that features some of Nigeria’s top-performing universities.
According to the official grouping released by the organising committee (NUGA), Group B comprises Lagos State University (LASU), University of Calabar (UNICAL), University of Ibadan (UI), and Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (UDUS).
With the viewing of the grouping, Group B could be described as a “group of champions”.
However, the NUGA Games, known as Nigeria’s biggest collegiate sporting event, provide a platform for students to showcase their athletic talents, foster unity, and promote sportsmanship among Nigerian universities.
As anticipation has been built, eyes on UDUS, to see how it will have victory against its southern rivals in what promises to be a thrilling contest.
