Fashion Overshadowing Sense And Appearance -By Raji Usman Amao
On the sphere of the second phase of the interview, the CEO of Oil Servicing Firm rejected the lady in question because of her appearance ranging from piercing of her nose and ears, using of leg chain which the CEO —tagged as a “disgusting appearance” in which she is not fit in for the job she actually applied for. So unfortunate, the lady in question was recommended and she wasn’t expect that this will happen— glancing through the comment section which I saw some people saying that, appearance matters a lot because it speaks about who you are not you in person —maintain of composure, be–spoke looking will actually orchestrated that you know what you’re doing.
This is very noteworthy that we should try to be fashion-kit and be-spoke that it will actually portray who we are to the general public—there is a popular says which has become ravage in our modern society is that ‘Don’t judge the book by its cover’. I can’t say that the society is the one to be dictating what we should do and ought not to do, it’s tilted to the extent that people tends to come out to the public for him or her to weigh their opinion on the privacy-subject matter—which is better address with few people in their logical reasoning will actually proffer solution to it.
What is Fashion?
The term ‘fashion’ originates from the Latin word ‘Facere,’ which means ‘to make,’ and describes the manufacturing, mixing, and wearing of outfits adorned with specific cultural aesthetics, patterns, motifs, shapes, and cuts, allowing people to showcase their group belonging, values, meanings, beliefs, and ways of life. Also, Fashion is a term used interchangeably to describe the creation of clothing, footwear, accessories, cosmetics, and jewellery of different cultural aesthetics and their mix and match into outfits that depict distinctive ways of dressing (styles and trends) as signifiers of social status, self-expression, and group belonging.
On the other hand, Modesty means being able to wear appropriate clothing without being too revealing, and at the same time keeping you casually cool and effortless chic while comfortably confident in your own skin without relying on your outfits—it is churned out that, Dressing professionally helps you present a positive, professional image of your organization to others.
Albeit, there is a short story I came across online which will be the subject of our discussion —streamline down to the root of the topic. There is an interview by one top multinational oil company to which it calls for application for the role of “Personal Assistant” to the CEO of the Oil Servicing Firm, a lady actually applied and was called for interview which she was lucky to have scale through the first rigorous interview —we all believe how competitive the oil company is when it comes to recruiting of new staff into the company (especially in the parlance of many are called few and fortunate ones are chosen).

More so, there are some tips which dressing professionally brings in, are to wit—
1. To enhance your credibility
2. It gives you confidence
3. It gives signal that you are serious about the job.
4. It create first impression as a serious minded person.
So, we should embrace our true self and be cautious with the way we respond to the demands of the society —so as not to put in a big a mess or shame because opportunities might comes out way and it’ll be irksome if we lose because of one impediment or the other. I urge all the graduates out there, to take their dressing serious devoid of dressing like a fashionista(s) to an interview or screening.
