FCT Police Debunks Viral Claim on Uniform Pocket Removal
The FCT Police Command has debunked a viral video alleging officers were ordered to cut pockets from their uniforms to curb extortion, calling the claim “baseless” and urging the public to ignore it.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has dismissed as false a viral video alleging that officers have been directed to cut off pockets from their uniforms to curb extortion.
In a statement, the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, said no such directive was issued by the Inspector General of Police.
“The attention of the FCT Police Command has been drawn to a false claim circulating on social media, alleging that personnel of the Command have been directed to remove pockets from their uniforms. This claim is entirely baseless and should be disregarded,” Adeh stated.
She emphasized that the Command remains committed to its constitutional duty of protecting lives and property, urging the public to always verify information from credible sources before sharing.
“The public is advised to follow the official communication channels of the Police for accurate updates. Social media users are also encouraged to desist from spreading misinformation capable of misleading the public and attempting to distract security agencies from their critical duties,” she added.
