Feyi Fayose’s worthy example -By Gbenga Ariyibi
The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Mrs Feyisetan 0layemi Fayose is seen by various people in different ways.To those who know her up close, she could best be described as a woman of substance, a devout and committed christian, a mother with a large heart and a philanthropist par excellence. In certain quarters, Mrs Fayose is regarded as a lady evangelist or a prophetess. She had predicted the second coming of her husband and it has come to pass. She had equally predicted that her husband would scale through all the hurdles set on his way by former 16 All Progressive Congress (APC) lawmakers in the state House of Assembly and the rest is history.
With all these godly attributes, Mrs Fayose does not believe that she has to nickname herself with any worldly titles, but her conviction in the efficacy of prayers and christian doctrine in solving human problems is not in doubt. Of course, she is grateful to God for His gifts used in assisting her husband and family.
However, without being immodest, the First Lady of Ekiti State is a blessing to the people of the state. This is one woman who believes that all human beings deserve special attention and care.
It is not surprising therefore that Mrs Fayose, who in her own right, could best be described as a jewel of “inestimable value”, becomes a perfect match to her loving husband, Governor Fayose, the people’s governor, an epitome of development of Ekiti State whose milk of human kindness is exemplary.
Together, this couple has contributed in no small measure to put an end to the suffering of the downtrodden in the state, a feat worthy of emulation.
The humanitarian gestures of Mrs Fayose are unparalleled. She has provided succor to the less privileged members of the society, Like her husband, she is a friend of the common people in the society. If Mrs Fayose is not dishing out money to the needy in one part of the state, she is paying medical bills of the indigent patients.
On January 8, this year, when she marked her 51st birthday, she did it in a unique way. She shunned all fanfare and festivities that are usually associated with such a unique occasion. She spent the occasion with the less privileged members of the society, especially the children in Erelu Angela Adebayo Children Home, Iyin Ekiti.
She gave out gifts and made a promise to build two blocks of classrooms for the abandoned children.
It is instructive that during the birthday, she paid a visit to some specialist hospitals in Ikere, Ikole, Ijero, the Federal Teaching hospital, Ido Ekiti and the University of Ado Ekiti Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, where she paid medical bills of some indigent patients.
Also, Mrs Fayose recently paid the medical bills of about 91 indigent patients in different hospitals in the state, a gesture that has caused her office over three million naira.
To show the level of her kindness, two patients at EKSUTH, Ado Ekiti, Monday Iseoluwa Ayobami and Ojo Sunday will not forget in a hurry how Mrs Fayose saved them from possible embarrassment when the duo ran away from the hospital because they were unable to pay their medical bills.
This was confirmed by the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the hospital, Dr Kolawole Ogundipe. In the words of the CMD, before now, the management of the teaching hospital had made several calls to the cellular phones of the patients but they refused to pick their phones, perhaps they thought they would be arrested by the police
He, therefore, thanked the First Lady for this kind gesture.
This is about the fourth time Mrs Fayose would be coming to offset the medical bills of some indigent patients.
She has equally assisted some pregnant women in different parts of the state by distributing no fewer than 500 Mama Kits to them. This is a package of items that would be useful to them during the delivery of their babies
Over all, Mrs Fayose is not depending on the stomach infrastructure programme of her husband. She has on several occasions distributed food items and gifts to people, especially those in Kajola village, Aramoko, Alake community, Ajebandele, Oke Osun, Ile -Ona, Ajaye Oke, Ajaye Odo, Erio community, Ido Ile, Surulere and a host of others
There is no doubt, that this gesture will soon be extended to other communities. In all, she is committed to continue to touch the lives of the less privileged of the society in the state.
