FG: Tinubu’s Administration Fair to All Regions of Nigeria
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known in a statement on Sunday, stressing that the Tinubu administration has consistently upheld inclusivity and balanced development across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The Federal Government has dismissed claims of bias in the allocation of federal projects and appointments, insisting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been fair, just, and equitable to all sections of the country.
Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known in a statement on Sunday, stressing that the Tinubu administration has consistently upheld inclusivity and balanced development across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
“Contrary to the perception being pushed in some quarters, this administration has demonstrated uncommon commitment to balanced development and inclusivity since assuming office,” Idris said. “The distribution of capital projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is equitable. No region is playing a second fiddle or ignored.”
The minister highlighted key infrastructure projects, noting that while the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway traverses the South, the 1,068 km Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway runs through the North. He added that rail and power projects are ongoing nationwide, with ₦150 billion and ₦100 billion secured for light rail projects in Kano and Kaduna, alongside metroline developments in Lagos and Ogun. Collectively, these projects are expected to create over 250,000 jobs.
Idris further disclosed that over 1,000 primary healthcare centres have been rehabilitated nationwide, while the rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt–Maiduguri rail line is ongoing.
Quoting verifiable data, he revealed that the Northwest emerged as the biggest beneficiary of project approvals, with ₦5.97 trillion (over 40%), followed by the South-South with ₦2.41 trillion, North Central ₦1.13 trillion, South East ₦407 billion, North East ₦400 billion, and South West (excluding Lagos) ₦604 billion.
Among Tinubu’s legacy road projects are:
- Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway (750 km): 175 km ongoing in Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.
- Sokoto–Badagry Superhighway (1,068 km): 378 km ongoing in Kebbi and Sokoto.
- Trans-Sahara Highway (465 km): 118 km ongoing in Ebonyi.
- Akwanga–Jos–Bauchi–Gombe Road (439 km): Redesigned for rigid pavement durability.
Other major projects include Abuja–Kaduna–Kano dualisation (₦764bn), Sokoto–Gusau–Funtua–Zaria Road (₦824bn), 2nd Niger Bridge access roads (₦175bn in Anambra, ₦146bn in Delta), Eleme–Onne Road (₦156bn), and the Bodo–Bonny Road in Rivers with 12 bridges (₦200bn).
Idris also pointed to the revival of the 255MW Kaduna Power Plant, progress on the AKK Gas Project, expansion of oil exploration in Bauchi and Gombe, and acceleration of the Kano–Maradi rail line from 5% to 67% completion.
“President Tinubu is building national infrastructure, not local trophies. Lagos has rightly been upgraded as Nigeria’s commercial hub, but the Northwest holds the lion’s share of approvals. This proves that all regions are receiving fair consideration,” the minister explained.
On appointments, Idris said inclusivity remains central to the “Renewed Hope Agenda,” citing the creation of new Regional Development Commissions and the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development as proof of Tinubu’s commitment to equitable governance.
“On the whole, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has not only kept faith with Nigerians but has proven himself to be a fair, pragmatic, and consequential reformer. His leadership is inclusive, his vision is unifying, and his commitment to equity and justice is unwavering. Nigerians can rest assured that under his watch, no part of this country will be left behind,” Idris affirmed.
