In line with his resolve to address drug abuse and other related social vices in Gwaram Local Government Area, the Council Chairman, Hon. Zahraddeen Abubakar, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to empowering security operatives with the needed support to continue waging war on criminal activities to promote security and ensure safety of lives and property.

Presiding over a security council meeting held a fortnight ago, the Chairman directed security agencies in the area to intensify their operations to check criminal activities in all the nooks and crannies of the area, stressing the need for the officers to re-strategise efforts in addressing drug abuse, prostitution and other social vices in the council area.

In fulfilment of the duty imposed upon them by the law, the police operatives attached to Gwaram Divisional Police Headquarters led by SP Abdulkadir Yusuf Wakili raided criminal hideouts and black spots in Sara and T/Gwaram communities of Gwaram Local Government Area.

This development was contained in a statement issued yesterday by DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the Police Public Relations Officer of Jigawa State Police Command.

In the statement, the officer disclosed that 14 suspects were arrested and 525 bottles of assorted alcoholic beverages confiscated during the raid, adding that the command would sustain efforts aimed at raiding criminal hideouts and black spots.
