Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has made a rare public appearance at the 1–54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London, following days of speculation about his health.

A short video posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday showed Edun visiting the O’DA Art Gallery booth at the event, accompanied by two unidentified individuals.

The clip was shared by Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to President Bola Tinubu, with a brief caption:

Appearance Follows Reports of Overseas Medical Trip

Edun’s outing comes shortly after reports claimed he had travelled to the United Kingdom for medical treatment. Earlier reports suggested the minister had been receiving care in Nigeria before being flown abroad for further medical attention.

The development also coincides with the ongoing World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) Annual Meetings in Washington, D.C., which Edun was reportedly unable to attend due to health reasons.

In his absence, the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, is leading Nigeria’s delegation to the global financial meetings, which commenced on Tuesday, October 14.
