For Sincerity Sake: Let’s Do Politics With Rare Taste Of Honesty -By Abdulrahman Yunusa
Atiku thought that Nigerians were politically astute then, and he therefore chosen to went with realistic ideas where as he made mentioned that he would, if given chance to govern Nigeria, privatize some government owned stuffs. Thing like NNPC and others which were left undisclosed.
Its obvious that politicians in Nigeria are fond of applying the faulty mechanisms of treachery, half truth, lies, utopian promises at the eve of campaign in the purusuit of their political dreams.
Therefore, while campaigning for a particular seat/position, our politicians have to be honest, open, truthful and straightforward. Otherwise they would forever be breaking the hearts of their people who are voting them for a purpose that they later turn back to it intentionally.
They have to learn that in everything honesty pays all the time. And as such, they had to be eluding cunning and deceptive phrases as a campaign promises in an attempt to lure their audiance in to the world of delusional political dreams just to secure their valid votes.
It suffice to believe that ” Its far better to fail with honor than to succeed with devoid of honor at any race ” and it will makes more sense to the people if they truly mean business and if they are shrewd enough. The event of 2019 election stand to prove this instance as a good example.
Atiku thought that Nigerians were politically astute then, and he therefore chosen to went with realistic ideas where as he made mentioned that he would, if given chance to govern Nigeria, privatize some government owned stuffs. Thing like NNPC and others which were left undisclosed.
Unfortunately he was fought hard and defeated along that line by Nigerians yet aligning to the deceptive whims and calls of the Current ruling party APC. They won the election and later actualized his dreams in tears yet accusing same voters of being ignorant of what govt is all about.
Huh! Can you now spot the stark hypocrisy of the APC Govt ? They used the political ignorance of our people towards achieving their goals in 2019 hence lambasting them on that particular cause. What a betrayal of trust and absolute play of our collective conscience!
However, it’s the duty of each and every honest candidate to educate people thoroughly about his agenda and blueprint. Make things clear as moon on it 15th day. Show them the negativities of their shallow thought about their zeal if they happen to have any. For a leader is meant to be a guide to his people not an accomplice to their stupidity.
On one hand, it’s your duty as a politician to realistically state your plans and agenda openly wthout lacing them with lies and perfidy and on the other hand it’s the duty of your people to gauge and analyse your agendas and that of your conteding partner to choose the best and viable candidate among you.
If you are lucky enough your people to get you on a spot then you can have a better days ahead in the office and you will have a less stress activities because you have made it clear to the people about all your plans. The cry and outrage would relatively be low compare to those who sells lies to get people votes and finally you will have the privilage of being fairly judge by our people yet posterity would judge you good.
That’s the hard way and the only way smart politicians they should always adhere in the course of their political dealings. Anything else is regrettable to their personality and conscience.
May the voters get wise enough to an extent that they won’t be lured for a cheap unrealistic and relatively utopian campaign promises that will end up jeopardizing their emotions and that of their leader.
May Nigeria Succeed.
