Former chairman, accused of selling a woman’s house without her knowledge

A Nigerian politician has been summoned to court on suspicion of fraud after the owner of a property in Potiskum, Yobe state told how she find out that her home had been sold without her knowledge.

The woman was on her widowhood days living with her parents when she received a call from her neighbours on 20 August, 2021 to inform her that someone was staying at her house in Unguwan Jaji.

According to a report, the woman together with her four little kids inherited the house she lived with her late husband after he pass away and have left the house locked up before migrating to her parents residence.

Adam Kayeri, a politician and former chairman of Fune Local Government happened to be the prime suspect among those who were accused of selling the woman’s house without her knowledge. The said accused together with a group of friends including Babayo Jibrin are allegedly involved selling the property to Babayo Alkali, one of their old friends.

It’s reported that the case is presented before the Shari’ah Court in Damaturu and the dependent has been invited to appear before court for the trial which will be held today.

The woman has said, “I don’t know how it all happened, I just wake up that day recieving a call from my neighbor whom I left the key of my house to them to keep it for me that they found out someone has broke into the house claiming that he bought it from Adam Kayeri” said the woman.

Now we’re waiting to hear more as the trial has already started.
