The latest social media outburst by Omoyele Sowore, the serially failed AAC presidential candidate, claiming that “Nigeria is effectively without a president at this moment,” is not only baseless but also deliberately misleading.

It is the kind of sensational rhetoric that thrives on outrage rather than facts, and Nigerians should not be fooled by it.

First, it must be clearly stated that the tragic killings and security challenges confronting the country did not start under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Nigeria’s security issues are long-standing and deeply rooted. What distinguishes this administration, however, is the deliberate and structured approach it has taken since assuming office to curb insecurity, strengthen intelligence gathering, and improve coordination among security agencies. Progress may not be instant, but governance is about steady, responsible action, not noise.

Unlike Sowore, President Tinubu is not a blusterer who rushes to social media to score cheap political points.

Leadership requires facts, not theatrics. In the case of the tragic killing of about 30 people in Niger State, the president acted responsibly by demanding and receiving intelligent, detailed reports from the Niger State Government and security agencies.

This is how serious leaders operate, through informed decision-making, not impulsive commentary.

It is, therefore, malicious and completely baseless for Sowore to claim, “No word, no empathy, no leadership from @asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.” Empathy in leadership is not measured by social media posts but by concrete actions, directives, and policies aimed at preventing a recurrence of such tragedies and ensuring justice.

Equally false is Sowore’s mischievous assertion that President Tinubu “disappeared before New Year’s Day under the excuse of ‘vacation.’” The president never disappeared. Taking brief, lawful rest while remaining fully in charge of state affairs is not an abdication of responsibility. Only those unfamiliar with how governance works would confuse structured delegation and continuous oversight with absence.

President Tinubu is not silent while citizens are being killed, and Nigeria is not a country bleeding without direction. Its leader is not missing in action. There is no “sad, tragic reality” of a headless nation as Sowore wants Nigerians to believe.

What exists is a country confronting challenges with a president who understands the weight of responsibility on his shoulders and approaches it with seriousness, not slogans.

Finally, Omoyele Sowore should understand that campus-style activism and megaphone politics should not be mistaken for the capacity to lead a complex country like Nigeria.

Nigerian politics is not for jesters or perpetual protesters; it is for serious-minded people with depth, experience, and a clear grasp of governance. Repeated electoral failures should by now have taught him that noise is not leadership, and outrage is not vision.

Nigeria has a president. He is working. And no amount of reckless social media posts can change that fact.
