Fubara Says Rivers Will Overcome Challenges as PDP Leaders Throw Support Behind Him
Rivers State Governor Sir Siminialayi Fubara assures that his administration will overcome any challenge while PDP leaders, including Uche Secondus and Austin Opara, pledge support. Fubara calls 2026 a year of “complete liberation” for the state.
Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminialayi Fubara, has stated that his administration will overcome any challenge when the time comes, emphasizing patience and strategic planning.
The governor made the remarks at the New Year banquet organized by the Rivers State Government at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Port Harcourt, as leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar pledged to work with him in backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Fubara said he encouraged his supporters to always act rightly, adding, “We will not ask you to do what is not right. We will never do that. But stand on the side of truth wherever you find yourself. Because at the end, it’s about you and about the decision you took when it mattered most. We don’t have any fear anywhere. We believe that when the time comes, we will cross the bridge.”
The governor added that preparations have been made to ensure the administration’s initiatives proceed smoothly, assuring that those who support his leadership would be proud. “We will be honoured, and you can walk in the streets of Port Harcourt with your shoulders high that you took a decision that was right at that time,” he said.
Fubara highlighted 2026 as a year that would usher in “complete liberation” for Rivers State, promising the fulfillment of all goals set by his administration.
The governor also named PDP leaders joining him in the state, including former National Chairman Uche Secondus, former Deputy Speaker Austin Opara, former Governor Celestine Omehia, and former Minister of Transport Abiye Sekibo, stressing that their support dispels claims suggesting he was working against the interests of the President.
Reaffirming his faith in God, Fubara declared that he remains steadfast and confident despite political challenges.
