Fuel Subsidy Removal: Inflation’s Toll on Poor Nigerians -By Kamal Alkasim

To tell the truth, despite the unforgettable shortcomings of the Buhari-era, Nigerians have chosen to forgive the ruling party and many of its candidates. After the removal of fuel subsidies, inflation has emerged as one of the biggest problems affecting poor Nigerians. While the government promised to provide palliatives to the less privileged, it seems that only 12 million citizens out of over 200 million will receive such assistance. This leaves many others to continue suffering under the weight of this incomparable inflation, making it difficult for most to survive.

Whether the good people will redouble their efforts or not, surviving in this merciless system is no easy task. A significant portion of the population will continue to live in critical conditions. The question arises: why did the President make this hard decision? If inflation is affecting the entire country and palliatives are only reaching less than 10% of the citizens, it is indeed disheartening news for those who had higher expectations when voting.

Let the actions of Mr. President speak louder than his words!
