Good Will Triumph Over Evil! -By Richard Olanrewaju Odusanya

We are taught in history class about oppression, about wars, about genocides and we read about dictators like Hitler and Stalin yet somehow in many ways their philosophies still live on and continue to change to mask the root of what their ideology stands for which is oppression. With the current situation in Nigeria, Good will triumph over evil. The conflict between good and evil is ageless.

Good generally brings happiness and positive emotions. Good brings a greater amount of happiness to the greater number of people, which is the Utilitarian definition of what is moral. Evil brings the least amount of happiness to the least number of people. If it brought more happiness then it would be good.

When you start treating other humans as things put in your path as tools for your benefit, reducing or eliminating their choices irrespective of their needs or desires, that pretty much represents an objective definition of evil. The world has enough to satisfy everyone’s need but not every man’s greed. We live in a fundamentally broken perversion of society where violence and hate is normalized. Where the worst most depraved acts against human beings are justified. It is possible that good will triumph and we’ll reach a generation of peace but it seems unlikely given our current circumstances. Even if we do reach that era, there will be plenty of human cruelty, oppression and pointless bloodshed before we ever reach the era.

Who’s to say things won’t return to how they were. While the foot soldiers of evil design harm for humanity, the foot soldiers of goodness must advance with the balm of goodness.

To all the good people out there, we have to rise above fear. It’s understandable that it’s not an easy task. It’s in our nature to focus on our own lives and take care of our loved ones. There’s nothing wrong with that. However we lose sight of the suffering of others. We’re too afraid to speak out because we don’t want to be killed by the authorities in power. It’s understandable but we will always be slaves if we don’t rise up. It’s the only way we can ever take down the current system of corruption. It’s the only way we can pave the way for future generations to have a better life than us instead of allowing the system to turn our children and our grandchildren into slaves. God hate bloodshed. Especially the blood of the Powerless, vulnerable and voiceless. The organisers will have the wrath of God to content with. Any person in Government who uses the apparatus of state to promote, Instigate, encourage, protect killers of citizens carries the very DNA of the devils and God will resolve his Issues with them and violence will not depart their house.

Fear of what will happen to me if I speak or stand for what is right is the stumbling block in Nigeria. The legendary musician of blessed memory Fela Anikulapo Kuti sang about this in his song ‘Sorrow, Tears and Blood’ when he said, “Eh-ya! My people sef dey fear too much, we fear for the things we no see, we fear for the air around us, we fear to fight for freedom, we fear to fight for liberty, we fear to fight for justice, we fear to fight for happiness, we always get reason to fear.” Therefore, people finds solace in falsehood and resist the truth but only the truth can set us free. This days many Nigerians fear level has highly increased to the level that they hardly discuss politics and national issues, due to the present level of poverty and economic hardship, corruption, insecurity. Forgetting  that evils and wickedness will multiply when men of good will are silence. When evil people destroy, good people rebuild, a great nation is a collective effort. Angel’s won’t bring it to fruition. It’s the works of man.

When justice is served, good triumphs over evil. Evils and good are at work in this world. Jesus talked about it when He said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” – (John 10:10 NIV). “All things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” You have been called according to God’s purpose. He not only will turn what was meant for evil in your life to good, but He will use you to do good in the midst of an evil world. Spend your life on this earth making a difference. Do not spend all of your expendable time in church activity only. Get involved in your community. Get involved in nation building.

In this world there is room for everyone, the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. I reiterate again, the world can satisfy everyone’s need but not every man’s greed. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way. Greed has poisoned men’s souls has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into bloodshed. Machinery that gives abundant has left us in want. The misery upon us as a country is but the passing of greed and wickedness the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die and the power they took from the people will return to the people, so long as men die liberty will never perish. Dictators free themselves, but they enslave the people. The greatness  of any NATION is predicated on how the vulnerable feel protected and cared for, not how the powerful feel untouchable.

Our thoughts goes again to ongoing unrest in Kaduna state right now over the incessant killings. The Catholic priests in the country have said “Nigerians should defend themselves by any means necessary because we are already at war.” The former minister of defence and an elder statesman Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma first spoke about this self defence at the Taraba State University on Saturday 24th March 2018 when he said, “I ask everyone of you to be alert and defend your country, defend your territory, defend your state. You have nowhere else to go. You have no where else to go.” And there were people who didn’t concur with his speech. We are all brothers and sisters. Let’s be each other keeper.

DEAR POLITICAL CLASS,
Your actions are stinking to high heavens. History will not be kind to you and your generations for the despondency, hopelessness, dashed dreams and tears you have caused the Nigerian people. Every official of state who is privy to any plot to kill and shed blood in Nigeria should know that there is heavy price they will pay. You can’t mock God. Nigerians be strong. No matter how they deprive us of ‘straw’s for brick-making, we will keep WAXING stronger until our neck outgrown their YOKE. After labour pains,There shall be Joy as we travail, we shall bring forth a New nation. In the end, good will triumph over evil. This is a CLARION call, a call to duty and Nation-Building.
