Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of residents, particularly in communities recently troubled by insecurity.

Speaking during a visit to Babanla and Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area on Saturday, the governor assured residents that “no resources would be spared in protecting the lives and businesses of residents of the state.”

Accompanied by top security officials — including Brigade Commander Brigadier General Barkins, Police Commissioner Adekimi Ojo, Ifelodun LGA Chairman Hadji Femi Yusuf, and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Alhaji Muhyideen Aliu — AbdulRazaq said the government had deployed multi-agency security teams to bolster public safety and prevent further attacks.

Posting on his official Facebook page, the governor wrote:
“Today, I visited Babanla and Oke-Ode, among other great communities, in Ifelodun Local Government Area to reassure the people of our government’s commitment to strengthening public safety and economic activities.”

He continued:
“I commended the community folks and security forces for standing firm. I also commiserated with families who lost dear ones to the recent security breaches. On my entourage were security commanders in the state and officers from the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA). Together, we reassured our people of sustained efforts to prevent further security breaches. It is a sad incident which we are working hard to curtail.”

Governor AbdulRazaq also expressed appreciation for the warm reception by the traditional ruler of Babanla, Oba Aliyu Adegboyega Yusuf Arojojoye II, and noted his satisfaction with the gradual return of calm in the affected communities.
“We will make sure everything is in order and our people continue to live in peace,” he added.

In a further move to support affected families, the governor announced that the Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) has been directed to take an inventory of victims and those displaced by the crisis. This effort, he said, will be conducted in partnership with community leaders to ensure inclusion and accountability.

Governor AbdulRazaq’s visit and assurances signal an intensified government response to insecurity in the state, with a focus on restoring peace, rebuilding confidence, and supporting those directly impacted by the violence.
