Benue Governor Hyacinth Alia cautions traditional rulers against issuing mining permits without government authorization, promising prosecution for violators. He also highlights infrastructure, security, and voter registration initiatives in Kwande LGA.

Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia has cautioned traditional rulers in the state against issuing mining permits in their domains without prior government approval, warning that violators would face prosecution.
The governor issued the warning while speaking at a thanksgiving event organized in honour of his appointees from Kwande Local Government Area (LGA), a major mining hub in the state.
Governor Alia stated, “We will not tolerate any form of illegal mining in any part of the state, and traditional rulers must desist from issuing mining permits in any part of the state without the approval of government.”
Highlighting his administration’s commitment to development, Alia also announced plans to construct additional roads in Kwande LGA to improve movement of people and agricultural produce.
On security matters, he pledged to continue collaborating with the Federal Government and local authorities to tackle armed herders in the state. He added, “Those found conniving with armed herdsmen and criminals to kill the people and plunder communities in the state will be treated as enemies.”
Governor Alia expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support for the people of Benue and emphasized that “politics should be centered on development and the welfare of the people.”
He also urged his appointees from Kwande LGA to remain accessible to their constituents and encouraged residents to participate actively in the ongoing Voter Registration Exercise.
The APC leader in Kwande LGA, Prince Moses Ternenge, described Governor Alia as “a true man of God with the interest of the people at heart” and called on residents to continue rallying behind him.
Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Timothy Ornguga, pledged their loyalty and unwavering support for Governor Alia’s administration.
