The Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Abbas, has said that Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State may register and collect his party membership card between Tuesday and Wednesday.

Abbas made the disclosure while addressing approximately 1,500 ad-hoc staff engaged for the APC E-registration exercise in the state.

He explained that the party delayed the start of the E-registration in Kano to await the arrival of both the state party leader, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, and Governor Yusuf, who recently met with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja.

“Be on standby. We may call on you tomorrow, Tuesday, depending on the arrival of the party leader Ganduje and the Governor in Kano, so that you can start the work. But it will not exceed Wednesday,” Abbas said.

Abbas emphasized that the party aims to surpass other states, including Lagos, in the membership drive and called on staff to register everyone interested in joining without discrimination.

“There will be rewards for Local Government Areas and wards that mobilize and register the highest number of members,” he said.

He further highlighted the significance of the training, saying, “If you don’t register, you are not an eligible member. Without it, you cannot vote or be voted for. The process is very important, and so are those being trained. You must discharge your responsibility with diligence and fear of God.”

Abbas noted that political developments in the state, including the governor’s defection, delayed the registration. He assured that the APC is inclusive, welcoming both political leaders and ordinary citizens.

“APC is a democratic party for all—old and young alike. We engaged about 1,500 people for training. The exercise will continue until the end of the month. We want to surpass Lagos and lead the nationwide exercise,” he said.

He added that Local Governments supporting the party could be rewarded with positions such as commissioner seats, depending on their performance in mobilization efforts.

Abbas concluded by explaining the requirements for E-registration: “Those without a voter’s card cannot register. You need a National ID card and a voter’s card to complete the process. This will help us determine the level of work required for the party’s victory.”
