Governor Nasir, I Have A Suggestion -By Comfort Enoch Istifanus

The Kebbi government needs to pay attention to the education sector and focus on the betterment of the youths because they are the hope of this nation. Neglecting them now is like giving up on the country, Nigeria. The government should look provide assistance to students because life is also hard for them and the Kebbi students are in dire need of help to achieve their desired goals.

Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris

I extend my commendations to Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State for his dedication to improving quality of life for its residents through the 5.7 billion palliatives given to the vulnerable persons in Kebbi. However, I want to draw your attention to an issue that warrants careful consideration.

The need to improve students’ standard of living in Nigerian public institutions is necessary as students are faced with lots of challenges in the process of acquiring formal education, especially we the students in Kebbi State. I suggest that you extend your hands also to the students in this state living in wants.

The recent increment in tuition fees in public universities has made matters worse. Students and parents are in a dilemma, many students have no option but to drop out of school because they cannot afford the exorbitant fees, others still manage to push through the difficulties, therefore I urge that the palliatives reaches the abode of students in Kebbi.

Remember, the removal of fuel subsidy has immensely contributed to worsening the plight of Nigerians, students too are at the receiving end of it as cost of learning materials such as handouts and textbooks have increased, with prices of food hitting the rooftop.

These factors have led students to engage in illegal acts just to make ends meet. Many female students are forced to sell their bodies as sex workers on campus in order to survive while most of the guys are now venturing into robbery within and outside the campus and engaging in online fraudulent activities popularly known as ‘yahoo yahoo’ just to survive.
Our campuses are no longer safe because of the high rate of armed robbery. If our youths who are the leaders of tomorrow engage in such vices, due to the negligence of the government towards the education sector then what is the fate of this country in the nearest future?

The Kebbi government needs to pay attention to the education sector and focus on the betterment of the youths because they are the hope of this nation. Neglecting them now is like giving up on the country, Nigeria. The government should look provide assistance to students because life is also hard for them and the Kebbi students are in dire need of help to achieve their desired goals. The future of this country solely depends on the youths.
