Governor Oyebanji Endorses Tinubu’s Reforms, Calls for Public Support and Prayers
Ekiti Governor Biodun Oyebanji has endorsed President Tinubu’s reforms, urging residents to support federal policies, pray for the administration, and maintain peace ahead of the June 2026 governorship election.
Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has appealed to residents to support President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms and continue to pray for his administration, describing the policies as necessary steps toward national growth and stability.
Oyebanji made the call on Friday during an inter-faith thanksgiving service held to mark the first working day of 2026 at the Obafemi Awolowo Civic Centre, Ado-Ekiti.
According to the governor, although the reforms were initially difficult for citizens, they are beginning to deliver positive outcomes.
“Though painful initially, the reforms are yielding results, with lower food prices, cheaper petrol and improved indicators, including currency stability,” Oyebanji said.
He credited the achievements of his administration to divine intervention and the support of Ekiti people, while also praising President Tinubu for what he described as “immense support” to the state. The governor urged residents to continue backing federal government policies for sustained development.
Oyebanji also called for peace before, during and after the June 20 governorship election, assuring residents that political activities would not hinder governance or service delivery.
“I am prepared for the election, and the APC will play by the rules,” he said, expressing confidence that his performance in office would earn him a second term.
Describing 2026 as a year of “unlimited opportunities,” the governor urged political office holders to manage public resources prudently and ensure that governance delivers tangible benefits to all citizens.
In their remarks, the Ekiti State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Emmanuel Aribasoye, called on leaders to embrace faithfulness and servant leadership, while the State Qareeb Missioner, Abdul-Hakeem Afenifere, urged citizens to practice gratitude, contentment and compassion.
