Gunmen Abduct Family, Kill Vigilante in Midnight Attack on Katsina Metropolis
Police spokesperson Sadiq Abubakar confirmed that the gunmen stormed the residence of 33-year-old Anas Ahmadu, taking him, his wife, and their daughter, Jidda, away at gunpoint.
A group of armed gunmen launched a midnight assault on a residential area in Katsina metropolis, abducting a man, his wife, and their daughter, and killing a vigilante member during the raid, according to the Katsina State Police Command.
The attack occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday in Filin Canada Quarters, a suburb of the state capital.
Police spokesperson Sadiq Abubakar confirmed that the gunmen stormed the residence of 33-year-old Anas Ahmadu, taking him, his wife, and their daughter, Jidda, away at gunpoint.
During the operation, 25-year-old Abdullahi Muhammad, a local vigilante, was shot and killed while attempting to confront the attackers.
“Our officers responded promptly to the distress call, but the gunmen had already fled the scene with the victims,” said Abubakar.
He added that Commissioner of Police Bello Shehu has since visited the affected community and ordered the immediate deployment of additional personnel to track down the assailants and secure the release of the abducted victims.
The police have also called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement in their neighbourhoods, assuring the public that all shared information will be handled with strict confidentiality.
