It’s not news that FGN had commenced negotiations with sunrise towards amicable settlement of the Mambilla hydro power dispute.
This was based on the condition given by the President of China that funding for the project would only be possible after legal dispute with sunrise were resolved. This is also aside documented evidence which span four (4) democratic presidents, showing various correspondences with Sunrise power transmission company limited (SPTCL).

This also formed the United-Kingdom meeting and consensus by Sunrise (SPTL) and representative of the Nigerian government, former minister of power, agriculture and attorney general of the federation.

Whilst FGN may have made a U-turn and failed in meeting up with its settlement agreement, FGN through the former attorney general appointed a foreign legal firm White & Case to represent Nigeria at the ICC.
