PDP Presidential Aspirant, Atiku Abubakar
“I Hail and Laud ATIKU!” — Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies
The ripples of the Breaking News headline as reported in 9News Nigeria, and LegitpostStaff, some hours ago titled: “If PDP zones its Presidential candidate to South East, I will withdraw for fairness and equity – Atiku” today April 9, 2022, is remarkably already making highly positive rounds and waves.
In the view of Funmilayo Adesanya–Davies, a PDP frontline female presidential Aspirant under the platform against the 2023 election and the Presidential flag bearer of Mass Action Joint Alliance MAJA in the presidential race of 2019; while asked her comment and reaction by our correspondent at Nuhu Agum at RachamReporters:
Adesanya-Davies affirms “It’s heart warming and it’s a sign of statesmanship and a detribalised, mature, elder statesman with respect and dignity on the part of Atiku, Wow! This demonstrates meekness, humility and forthrightness, with no unnecessary ambitions and sentiments but highly a commendable disposition, as all we need is to “MAKE NIGERIA WORK AGAIN.”
If, actually in airing this opinion as he has stated, ”Former Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar has made a detour on his desperate bid to clinch the 2023 Presidential ticket under the Peoples Democratic Party by saying that, “if the PDP zones its presidential candidacy to the South-East, he would withdraw his interest for the sake of fairness and equity,” Then, I, Funmilayo hails him, and assuredly, he has earned the respect of most of the Nigerian populace the more.
Atiku Abubakar, however further rightly explained putting things in correct perspective, “if PDP zones its Presidential ticket to the South, will not withdraw because there is no fairness and equity.” “Atiku challenged that former president Goodluck Jonathan was President for 6 years. For fairness and equity, he should not contest but he is contesting.
Olusegun Obasanjo was President for 8 years. For fairness and equity, Fayose should not contest but he is contesting.
My region (North East) has not produced a president in this country but I am ready to step down if PDP zones it to South East. Adesanya-Davies added, “So is my region n (North Central) as well, not at all.”
Atiku then asserts, “If Wike and Fayose want fairness and equity, they should be fighting for PDP presidential ticket to be zoned to the South-East and not South.”
We would recall on 23rd March 2022, Atiku Abubakar declared his intention to contest the presidency in the 2023 elections in spite of clamours by major PDP stakeholders for a zoning formula.
The declaration which was Atiku’s second formal declaration for the office of the President in the past four years took place at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, had in attendance former Vice President Namadi Sambo; Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri; former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, among others.
Atiku articulated a five-point agenda to turn around the fortunes of Nigeria, if elected. The five-point agenda included the unity of Nigeria, security, economy, education and devolving more resources and powers to the federating units.
Also, may we be reminded that honourably, Atiku Abubakar has also ascertained, saying: “If I Lose In 2023, I, Other PDP Party Leaders Will Retire” – Atiku Abubakar in a report by SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORK on March, 16, 2022.”
The Elder statesman boasted that, “The administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo where he served as the vice president still remained best since 1999.”
Meanwhile, Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has warned members of the Board of Trustees of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the party might not survive another eight years as an opposition party. So an individual who can win the election in 2023 should earn the PDP ticket.
Atiku, who spoke when he hosted the BoT members during a Consultative meeting in Abuja on Tuesday, asked the elders of the party to work with him to clinch the presidency in 2023 or “we all retire together.”
In the words of Adesanya-Davies, again to conclude, She says to the largest and most experienced ruling party in the nation, “Oh PDP, let’s RETURN POWER TO THE PEOPLE” she echoes. PDP must never risk their duty to take Power back from APC in the up coming 2023 presidential election. The Muhammadu Buhari APC-led trial and error administration has failed us all and expired and is over after eight years of gloom and doom. No, not again! and it is time for Nigeria to move on, with a deep breath and fresh air again. NO excuse will be good or genuine enough as Nigerians are now waiting on PDP as a rescue team for good.”
