Nigerian music star Yemi Alade has finally addressed the long-debated topic of a potential collaboration with fellow singer Tiwa Savage—and her response suggests it’s unlikely to happen anytime soon.

During an interview on WithChude, Yemi Alade said she strongly supports women uplifting one another and has collaborated with several female artists across Africa and beyond.

“I’ve had collaborations with Omawumi, with Waje, even with Seyi Shay. I’ve worked with a lot of African female artists around the world. I’m a big champion for female collaborations,” she said.

However, when asked specifically about Tiwa Savage, Yemi admitted she prefers to avoid unnecessary controversy.

“I know that the fan-favorite collaboration is the one you mentioned. I’d rather just stay clear. I don’t want problems in my life. I don’t want problems,” she stated.

The “Johnny” crooner clarified that her decision isn’t rooted in any personal conflict but rather in how fans and the media often fuel rivalry narratives between female artists.

“You know the thing is that fans and media just tend to stir the water where the water is supposed to be still,” she explained, adding that she would “rather just exist and not try to make something out of nothing.”

Yemi Alade’s comments appear to reaffirm her commitment to positivity and peace in an industry where perceived competition between top female acts often makes headlines.
