If I Become The Governor Of Benue State -By Hassan Idris

Published

on

Every society has it’s own needs that it needed to survive and the kind of man power and leadership it seeks for. There’s no developed or developing society with bad leadership who remains adamantly adamant to the needs of the people. Like Abraham Maslow’s theory of needs, there are basic needs that every Society needed which are the psychological need such as, food, water, warmth and the rest. On the other hand, this basic need extended to safety needs such as, security safety and many more. If I become the governor of Benue state,I shall indeed change the existing status quo. Here are my vital aims and plans for the state.

(1)Education.
2)Safety and security.
(3Social amenities.
(3)Agriculture.
(5)Youth empowerment.

Education: Education is all one with growing; it has no end beyond itself. (Education is everything along with growth; education itself has no final destination behind it (Smith,2015). Also, Education is defined as a learning process for the individual to attain knowledge and understanding of the higher specific objects and specific. The knowledge gained formally resulting individual has a pattern of thought and behavior in accordance with the education they have gained(Big Indonesian Dictionary (1991).

There’s no society that has developed without proper educational standard and without giving higher pedigree to education. Singapore for instance have pushed forward thier development viz a viz education. It’s true Benue state,my state is suffering from poor educational standardization; where you will see mostly in the rural areas, childrens sitting under dilapidated classrooms, dilapidated chairs or sometimes on the floor to learn which is unhealthy for better learning.

If I become the governor, of the state, I shall arrange and repair those dilapidated classrooms and create a well furnish educational platforms in the state; most especially in the rural areas of Gboko, Gwer west and Ohimini local government in Benue state. I shall carry along all in the educational sectors and make sure all the teachers, lecturers are paid with undelayed salaries. Vital education for our children, better Society we get.

Safety and security: “Security is freedom from, or resilience against, potential harm (or other unwanted coercive change) caused by others. Beneficiaries (technically referents) of security may be of persons and social groups, objects and institutions, ecosystems or any other entity or phenomenon vulnerable to unwanted change. Security mostly refers to protection from hostile forces, but it has a wide range of other senses: for example, as the absence of harm (e.g. freedom from want); as the presence of an essential good (e.g. food security); as resilience against potential damage or harm (e.g. secure foundations); as secrecy (e.g. a secure telephone line); as containment (e.g. a secure room or cell); and as a state of mind (e.g. emotional security).

The term is also used to refer to acts and systems whose purpose may be to provide security (e.g.: security companies, security forces, security guard, cyber security systems, security cameras, remote guarding). Safety and security matters a lot as it’s” enshrined in the Nigerian constitution the safety of lives and property of the citizens. They gave out their inalienable rights to get security and safety.

The issue of Herders and farmers clashes have been a dreadful and worrisome issues that have been hitting the state with lost of lives and property. I shall settle that issues by providing a better lasting solutions.” Benue, Jos and Southern Kaduna is said to be the home of ethno-religious violence. Researchers such as Prof. Musa Abdullahi has found that; such kind of conflict is inevitable because it’s synonymous to the primitive conflict that happened between Nomad and Sedentary.

Also, Cyprian Ekwensi in his book “Burning Grass,” believes that; Nomads are people whose lives trickles or revolves around their cattle and killing or harming their cattle will bring about an endless conflict. However, despite the postulation given by such scholars, one may understand that conflict in Middle belt Nigeria is endless, and any effort toward negotiation is bound to be a failure.”( Sulaiman Ayub). Peace and stability are prerequisite to developments and healthy living. If the citizens ain’t safe, development and empowerment is not guaranteed.
The lives of the citizens are more better for if they have no life, who will come vote for me? Security is a must to the government.

Social Amenities: Social amenities, or public amenities, refer to places, buildings or infrastructural facilities which are to be shared and to become convergence spots for the local and surrounding communities. It has become a basic necessity for villages and settlement areas to have well-built and complete social amenities for the benefit of the local and surrounding communities, so as to facilitate them in conducting social functions and activities, which in turn would help shape a united, harmonious, advanced, dynamic and progressive society.

Social amenities are very pivotal. If there are no good roads, goods provided won’t reach other place of the village, more especially the rural areas. I shall create beautiful roads where transportation shall flow swiftly with goods reaching every nook and cranny of the village.
Provision of pipe-borne water, where all the citizens shall benefit from it. There’s no doubt that water is life but good clean and pure water is life and health. I will provide each household with excess water supply and other social Amenities such as Health care. Health they said is ” wealth. It’s true that the citizens are battling with poor medical structures and hospital facilities. I shall provide hospitals in the rural and urban areas.

Agriculture: Agriculture is the most comprehensive word used to denote the many ways in which crop plants and domestic animals sustain the global human population by providing food and other products. The English word agriculture derives from the Latin ager (field) and colo (cultivate) signifying, when combined, the Latin agricultura: field or land tillage. But the word has come to subsume a very wide spectrum of activities that are integral to agriculture and have their own descriptive terms, such as cultivation, domestication, horticulture, arboriculture, and vegeculture, as well as forms of livestock management such as mixed crop-livestock farming, pastoralism, and transhumance.

Also agriculture is frequently qualified by words such as incipient, proto, shifting, extensive, and intensive, the precise meaning of which is not self-evident. Many different attributes are used too to define particular forms of agriculture, such as soil type( Ellen, 1994) . Agricultural products will be taken with higher value and ways will be created for the vital use of this agricultural produce. Like you know, Benue state is the food basket of the nation. I shall create industry and procedure where these goods shall be transported outside the country. Agriculture; farming is our bride. I shall create a better way to help in the consumption and importatation of agricultural products.

Youth empowerment: Youth empowerment is a process where children and young people are encouraged to take charge of their lives. They do this by addressing their situation and then take action in order to improve their access to resources and transform their consciousness through their beliefs, values, and attitudes. Youth empowerment aims to improve quality of life. Youth empowerment is achieved through participation in youth empowerment programs. However scholars argue that children’s rights implementation should go beyond learning about formal rights and procedures to give birth to a concrete experience of rights.

There are numerous models that youth empowerment programs use that help youth achieve empowerment. A variety of youth empowerment initiatives are underway around the world. These programs can be through non-profit organizations, government organizations, schools or private organizations. Youth empowerment is different from youth development because development is centered on developing individuals, while empowerment is focused on creating greater community change relies on the development of individual capacity.

Empowerment movements, including youth empowerment, originate, gain momentum, become viable, and become institutionalized. Youth empowerment is often addressed as a gateway to inter-generational equity, civic engagement and democracy building. Activities may focus on youth-led media and youth rights.

In conclusion, I shall represent and work and represent the people. I shall understand their problems and would stand for them in all ramifications.
