If Only Mahadi is Flatulent! -By Ismail Misbahu

The Mahadi varieties are in high demand for the north, indeed for the whole nation. As a contumacious minor as he’s looked upon, the courage Mahadi earned to speak up and break the doggo is a celebrated attempt. Breaking the silent of corruption is a potential manure to growing the seed of democracy. It will take a long time to scrutinize the dossier of facts assembled by the doyen activist. If only he must be wrong, nothing changes the fact that the corrupt attitudes in the state public service record-keeping procedure: concoction, colouring and refinement; interpolation, deliberate suppression and adroit evasion of facts, tempering signatories etc has become ineluctable. What Mahadi subjected to scrutiny are product of this criminally preserved documents.

Let’s pretend that the dourly struggle of Mahadi only succeeded in digging more grounds for investigation, chances are such investigations, if would be carried out with a double-blinded sincerity, would surely give a wound slap to the state government. Perceived as a devious whistle blower, the facts he divulged are in mass contradiction. They could either be speculated or accepted but could hardly be denied or rejected in Toto. He doggoned it!

The dispute with Mahadi lies in his passion—his seeming witlessness. The recent video clips portraying his incarceration—interpreted by some as exaggerating his call for sympathy is one of such styled passion. It’s probable that he manufactured the clips simply to deplete the calculated danger he’s expecting to witch-hunt him. Disputing as this may appear, Mahadi couldn’t be mistaken though. In essence, the significance of Mahadi to the survival of democracy is that he holds the state government accountable. Prove his facts right or wrong, at a blistering pace, Mahadi has taken the gauntlet. His resounding doggedness in the pursuit of public accountability is not doubt a remarkable one.

Mr. Shehu shouldn’t be dismissed for not being meticulous. Though we admit his fallibility, we however, acknowledged his findings. As victims of corrupt-oriented leadership, we indeed hold him tightly and we dare challenge the state government to respond meticulously (NOT damn his reputation) any share of public fund she allegedly spent recklessly, sidetracked and siphoned fraudulently in the name of public services. Mr. Shehu couldn’t have spoken up against the big chunk of money the state government diverted in the name of ‘Sharan Daji’ (a pilot reconnaissance) if there hadn’t existed any ground for that. Neither could he speak up of the money allegedly pirated to the SSG office in the name of ‘peace negotiations’ with bandits. Nor with the billions allegedly misappropriated to LGAs across the state. Ditto the money diverted against the payment of children SSCE Examination and so on and on and on. In al,l Mahadi never aired to the public ears without evidence. He mist convince us because we all assumed it happened, and we still couldn’t find any clue to untrust him. For whatever he’s purported to gain (and we still couldn’t prove he’s been paid), we can’t therefore take him for granted. Dismissing him if at all, only gives more comfort to the shamelessly contemptuous state government to continue with supreme impunity.

Let his passion goes with his image, he did already compose the lyrics and has given us a chance to dance. Experts who found the lyric full of ineptitude should please give it meaning. Nothing Mahadi has done to defame the government that has already defamed itself. Why must the state government worry of only Mr. Shehu is a dabbled-rouser? Why must the triumvirate: the governor, the SSG, and the business mogul, be so discomforted by the man they stoned as crazy bastard? Who could believe them? The fact of the matter is that we can’t disprove of Mahadi because of the government that can only be wrong by misunderstanding. We really need ourselves as citizens more than we need the state government, and we like what Mahadi is doing more than the actions of the state! The question of whether Mahadi is credible is one, and is left for the expert to investigate; and the significance of what he stands for (call the sic) another!

We really are tired of this irresponsibility!
