If You Cannot Take Care Of Them; Don’t Give Birth To Them! -By Enoch Samson Peri

The function of parents in both the moral and religious spheres of life, is providing their children with the necessaries of life and requisite educational, moral and religious training especially during the early stages of life of such children. These necessaries of life includes: food, clothing,shelter,health,education, and affection. The necessaries of life and sound training are very important for the reasonable existence of a child. Hence, any child who has been afforded these necessaries of life and sound training, has higher chances of living a decent life when compared with his contemporaries who lack these necessaries.

It is sad that parents have abandoned this duty bestowed on them by God and morality. Parents today indiscriminately and careless hatch children without any sense of responsibility! The ill of giving birth to a large number of children without the means of taking care of them is predominant in the Northern part of Nigeria, as most families in the north are polygamous, hence, the plenty children gotten from such polygamous arrangements are not provided with the necessaries of life and sound training.
The reason for this irresponsible character of parents can be traced to illiteracy, ignorance, culture, poverty, beliefs and a list of other factors!

Where children are not given the necessaries of life and sound training, they begin to live according to their own instincts, which, because is not fortified will lead them to the wrong paths and ultimately, lead to calamity! Because of lack and idleness, so many children opt for social vices which will not only be detrimental to them alone but to the society at large! And by the time they have gone into these evil and unworthy style of living, it will be too late to call them back!

The above troubles can however be addressed, controlled and avoided if parents will only give birth to children they can properly train, supervise and fend for!

Children are the best legacy one can have! Children are the hope of the society! If they are trained well, be sure to have a better world! If they are not trained well be sure to have a chaos and an unsettled world!
