In Ogun, gas tanker explosion engulfs six cars and kills four

Four people were killed and around six vehicles were set on fire in the aftermath of a gas truck explosion that rocked the Ita-Oshin neighborhood of Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

According to credible reports, the explosion happened after the gas tanker was involved in an accident while attempting to maneuver around the road barriers.

Further information revealed that in order to evacuate the victims’ bodies and contain the fire, emergency response teams—including members of the Federal Road Safety Corps and Ogun State Fire Service—quickly responded to the location.

A truck, a private automobile, and taxis were among the vehicles destroyed by the fire, and the damage also reached neighboring stores and houses.

While security and safety officials present at the scene are yet to provide a comprehensive statement regarding the incident, eyewitnesses, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, said some casualties had already been rushed to the hospital by the response teams.
