Economic Issues
Inflation in Nigeria -By Yusuf Salisu Muhammad
The sudden economic slump caused by inflation has become a heavy cross for us to bear. Uncountable number of businesses have collapsed –unambiguously small scale trades of the vulnerables. This has indisputably cripled the economic sector.
At present, inflation is Jeopardizing the economic status of Nigeria.
The agony of Nigerians; specifically the Masses in regards the current economic challenges and its reflection in all aspects of our daily live gave the motivation for this write up.
Nigeria for decades stood as a country with moderate standard of living owing to her currency’s distinguished purchasing power relative to other countries in Africa and the World at Large.
Today, rhe prices of commodities have multiplied in folds, stuff that were exchanged for ₦10 are now sold for ₦20. To make things worst, this came at a time when Nigerians struggle extremely to earn living in the awfullest situation.
The sudden economic slump caused by inflation has become a heavy cross for us to bear. Uncountable number of businesses have collapsed –unambiguously small scale trades of the vulnerables. This has indisputably cripled the economic sector.
consequently, the rampant fluctuations of inflation have become an encumbrance in the path of Nigeria’s development.
However, the question is: What is the solution to the aforesaid impediment that bedevils Nigeria’s well-being?
With respect to the aforementioned stumbling block in Nigeria, both the citizens and the government have vital roles to play; in respect to this, the following are some suggested ways to overcome this snag.
In the First place, all citizen should be alerted that salvaging our nation from failing is a task that rest on our shoulders all. In doing So, We Should be not unaware that fighting any vice has repercussions as any adventure.
On the other hand, the heartless traders should be aware that their quest to accumulate wealth Will benefit them with nothing besides incuring regret.
Additionally, I would like to urge the government at every level to keep an eye and embrace full responsibility in abating this lackadaisical and unenthusiastic element that play a considerable part towards the predicament of Nigeria’s prosperity.
I however, firmly believe in the possibility of controlling inflation as I do in the possibility of averting other menacing nuisance like corruption, rape, open defecation, and inter alia in our societies, states, and Nigeria at large.
In the same vein, prayers should be kept constant.
May God almighty do away with all hindrances and may peace reign again.
