Jonathan David Scores on Serie A Debut as Juventus Defeat Parma; Scamacca Returns with Goal for Atalanta
Juventus doubled their lead late on through Dusan Vlahovic, who tapped in from close range with six minutes remaining, sealing the victory in an otherwise low-key encounter. Vlahovic, who is reportedly on the club’s transfer list, has faced mounting pressure after a string of underwhelming performances.

Turin, Italy —
Jonathan David marked his Serie A debut with a goal on Sunday, helping Juventus to a comfortable 2-0 win over Parma at the Allianz Stadium.
The 25-year-old Canadian striker, signed as a free agent to strengthen Juve’s misfiring attack, opened the scoring in the 59th minute, coolly slotting home Kenan Yildiz’s low cross. The goal underlined David’s natural finishing ability that made him a fan favorite during his time at Lille.

Scamacca Makes Triumphant Return for Atalanta
Elsewhere, Gianluca Scamacca ended a long goal drought with a composed finish as Atalanta were held to a 1-1 draw by newly-promoted Pisa.
The Italian international hadn’t scored since May 2024, having spent much of the past year recovering from an ACL injury. His 50th-minute equaliser – a cleanly struck effort – cancelled out an earlier Isak Hien own goal and offered a timely reminder of his quality under new coach Ivan Juric.
Scamacca, who also hit the crossbar with a powerful header shortly after scoring, was met with raucous applause when substituted in the 72nd minute. His performance provided a boost for Atalanta following the big-money summer departure of fellow Azzurri striker Mateo Retegui to Saudi Arabia.
Rising Como Stun Lazio
In Como, Cesc Fabregas’ ambitious side made an early statement by defeating Lazio 2-0 in front of a lively home crowd at the Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Goals from Tasos Douvikas and Nico Paz – the latter a stunning free-kick in the 73rd minute – secured all three points for the lakeside club. Paz’s strike capped an impressive display from the young midfielder.
Como, who returned to Serie A last season after two decades away and finished a surprising 10th, have invested heavily again this summer, backed by Indonesian conglomerate Djarum. They nearly added a third when Mergim Vojvoda’s rocket struck the crossbar just minutes after Paz’s goal.
Lazio, hampered by a transfer ban until January due to financial rule breaches, were thoroughly outplayed throughout the match.
Late Drama in Sardinia
At the Unipol Domus, Sebastiano Luperto rescued a point for Cagliari with a stoppage-time header, earning a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina.
Fiorentina had looked set for victory until Luperto’s thumping goal in the 94th minute salvaged a deserved point for the Sardinians in front of their home fans.
