The Atiku-Okowa Presidential Campaign Council for People Living With Disabilities has said that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has promised to appoint 5% of PWDs in his government if given the mandate come February 25.

The PDP PWD campaign also said that a substantial number out of the 32 million members across Nigeria were solidly behind Atiku.

The national coordinator of the Atiku-Okowa campaign council for the PWDs, Hayatu Gwarzo, disclosed this on Saturday during the North-Central Town Hall meeting in Abuja.

Gwarzo said, “Atiku made a promise that he would carry us along in his government, in fact, he promised us 5% in his government, which is a lot. And it is better to start (with something) than none and when we start, as time goes on, he may increase the number to 10% or even 15%.

The former federal lawmaker further remarked that, “We have over 32 million people living with disabilities, so with that population, they (other candidates) never cared to invite as to join any of their projects, only Atiku invited us to join him and to save Nigeria.

“I cannot say that the whole 32 million people with disabilities are behind Atiku 100%, but substantial (number) are with Atiku and it involves every cluster; those with physical disabilities – the blind, the deaf, albinos, and dwarfs, among others. So we are very much comfortable that he will have a winning figure.”

On the strength of the three frontline candidates in the 2023 presidential election, he pointed out that “if you take the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, they don’t have the national spread. Most of them are banking on their regions, and regional politics has gone forever. You have to go national. Atiku is accepted nationwide in each and every political zone.”

He claimed the chances of the PDP presidential candidate in winning the elections was about 75% to 80%.
